Players Perspective – Midget Girls

Recently we hosted out Toronto Lords tournament here in Toronto. The tournament was a great experience as we learned a lot of things on and off the court that will definitely help us in the future. Our team did and extraordinary job, especially our coaches Tami And Mike. We faced some really strong competition but in the end we earned a spot in the championship game.
Our first game was a challenge, we faced London CYO , they had some pretty strong players but we worked together and got the W. The second team we faced was a team called Fusion basketball. We had played this team before so we knew how they played, but they gave us a tough match up and we were very happy to come up with the victory.
The second day of the tournament was pretty hectic, but we managed to get through it. Our semi final game was against a team we played multiple times, North Region Krazy Kats. It was a close game but we gave it everything we had knowing that this would lead us to the gold medal game, and in the end all the hard work it paid off – we won! The entire team was exhausted but we knew we had to rest up for the game that was a couple of hours away against a very strong team which was Oakville Vytis. The first half went pretty well for us, there were a lot of lead changes and we entered halftime with a 1-point lead. But in the second half the fatigue from the hectic week-end started to come into play and things didn’t go so well. As the fourth quarter started to slip away we knew we had to finish strong. We gave it all we had in those last minutes. Even though we didn’t get the gold it showed other teams that we were a threat to any team that gets in our way.
We took away from the week-end that if we work together as a team we will be a force to be reckoned with in U15 Midget girls basketball. And that the effort and work we put in on and off the court will help us to be successful this season! Go Lords!
